We Dig Ink
Edge
Innovations
If you’ve been printing since 1922, chances are good that the creative juices have truly flowed on more than a few occasions.  We’re extremely proud of the graphic arts innovations and unique concepts that we’ve spearheaded over the years.  We absolutely LOVE brainstorming with clients, creating work that stands far apart from the potpourri of printed projects across the planet.  Our ideas span a rather wide berth, from interesting binding methods to non-paper substrates to highly-effective direct mail concepts, and far more.  Among them are:

Pharmaceutical Piece – printed CMYK on amazing, incredible ClingZ®-Hudson Cling On, white backing; special hard-set inks

HUDSON CLING ON
In 2004, we learned about a rather unique substrate called ClingZ®.  It starts out as two sheets glued together at the edges; the top one a plasticized polypropylene, and the bottom one a coated one side cover stock.  The top sheet is actually charged with a bolt of electricity, infusing it with a huge amount of “cling-ability”.  Manufactured in white and clear surfaces, it is such an unusual substrate that it earned its own patent.

After six months of experimenting, we have developed our own proprietary printing and drying processes for it.  Beginning with ClingZ®, the end result is Hudson Cling On (HCO).

It is the perfect marketing communications tool, adhering to every indoor surface without any glue, dirt, residue or marks left behind.  HCO is repositionable, can be written on and can be used for everything from in-store promotions to calendars/save-the-date announcements to campaign posters to branding to instructional diagrams to guerilla marketing.  Contact us for further information about this highly innovative product.

SIMULATED DIE-CUTTING

1957... Were you born yet?

The year was 1957.  The cost of a first-class stamp was 3¢ and the Frisbee made its official debut.  That was also the year that we developed the concept of non die-cut die-cutting. It has the appearance without the cost of die-cutting.

By guillotine-cutting small lifts of printed sheets on a pre-determined bias, scoring and then accordian-folding, the end result appears to be die-cut.  Visually, the project gives the impression of having a larger production budget than actually exists.  We produce this design on a fairly regular basis; and, have the proper cutting angles and appropriate paper weight down to a science.

TRANSLUCENT ENVELOPES WITH A TWIST
About a decade ago, a client came to us with an interesting question. We then met with U.S. Postal Service officials and presented them with the same interesting question.

The result?  We now mail a number of projects in translucent envelopes (both clear and colors), with the outgoing address on the flap side of the envelope.  The primary benefit is that the image and/or teaser copy that appears on the front of the invitation is viewed thru the face of the envelope without any encumbrances.  The return address, postage and the outgoing address are all on the back side, leaving the face completely blank.

The post office does have a few parameters that they want followed when employing this design.  But, overall, they are completely cool with it; and, it can only help with response rates.

TIP OF THE ICEBERG
These are just a few of the many innovations that we’ve been involved with over the years.  Our sample library is overflowing with unique and creative concepts.  We love brainstorming with clients to develop highly effective and efficient projects.  Do not hesitate to pick our brains!
